The Lore of Calysto my High "Wood" Elf Character in Skyrim

I thought it would be fun to write some lore for my Skyrim character... So here we go!

Basics

Name: Calysto

Gender: Non-binary

Pronouns: (She/they)

Sexuality: Queer

Species: High Elf

Likes: Hunting, meat, listening to music, riding on horseback, getting away with the "impossible", the Thieves guild, her children, and the outdoors

Dislikes: The Thalmor, Astrid's thinking, most guards, wine (mead she likes though), and sleeping inside.

Background

Calysto’s parents, both altmer, died at a young age. They were injured by bandits, and their entire shipment was robbed. Calysto was hidden while her parents laid dying. Both her parents did not have to suffer long however as ravenous wolves came to finish them off smelling their blood. The young baby began to wail and cry attracting the attention of the wolves who came to investigate, before anything happened though two bosmer shot the wolves down. These bosmer were two hunters who then took her in. They raised her as their one and only child. She was taught and raised learning how to hunt. She was brasher at first wanting to run in and kill, but her parents showed her patience in her shot. She learned to cling to the shadows, how to move fast, and remain light on her feet. Though she did have a good upbringing, she was never really socialized. She spent most of her time with her mother or in the woods with animals.

As she continued to grow, this trend remained. All the way into adulthood. She ventured into the nearby towns and learned more of the growing conflicts and the world beyond. Her interest was peaked and she wanted to expand her horizons. She wanted to hunt more dangerous beasts, not just wolves or bears or spriggans. She wanted to hunt trolls, draugur, whisps, bandits. She told her parents, expecting an apprehensive response saying that she could hunt there. And at first, her parents were hesitant, but they changed and understood her wants and that she was an adult. So they pack her with what she needed and sent her on her way. As she traveled through the wilderness she saw a group of bandits. The bandits had snatched a kill before she shot. She kept her bow and arrow from moving and watched. She followed and stalked them to their camp. She herself was falling low on supplies so… she thought ‘well they stole first.’ And she then robbed them blind. She got off scot-free and realized that there was no harm in stealing from those who stole or from those who were evil. Upon this revelation, she stole from bandits. She stuck to bandits never taking from thieves or caravans. She did not steal everything, she only stole when necessary. But the thrill mixed with the thrill of the hunt. She loved it. But eventually, this got her into trouble. She was caught and ended up having to flee. She dropped what was unnecessary to carry and ran for it. She ended up tripping over herself and falling quite harshly. She rolled down part of a mountain and caught onto a rock. She was injured and lightheaded. She got herself safely onto the floor all dazed and out of it. She cannot clearly remember what happened, but she ended up becoming unconscious amidst an ambush the Empire set up for the Stormcloaks.

Playstyle

Calysto depends heavily on her bow and arrow as that is what she has trained most in. Sometimes she relies on one-handed weapons which she will use if a bow and arrow is not the best choice. She is stealthy and clings to the shadows quite easily. She is mostly patient but can be too brash, which usually lands her into trouble. Which she will usually be saved by, either by herself or her companions. Whatever she gets usually goes into obtaining new goods, mostly weapons or armor or spells. She uses spells and cooking rather than potions because she grew up using no plants in her everyday life. (Green pact)

Skills:

Major - Sneak, archery, speech, one-handed, lock picking

Minor - Pickpocket, destruction, resurrection, alteration, light armor

Optional - Enchanting, conjuration

Factions:

She will want to join all possible factions, wanting to experience and see as much as she can to see which she will fully commit to.

With her small history in thievery, she will go to the thieves guild to seek ends meet there. She passed Brynolf’s test with quick ease. Though she was raised on a less morally corrupt thought process, she will like her new family. They still do have their own rules and system, so she knows it's not a madhouse. There is a mutual respect present which she respects. She enjoys the thrill of sneaking around and being able to visit various places and overhear many stories. The stories from her fellow thieves and from the target’s homes she hits.

With the dark brotherhood, it was more of a mistake that got her entangled in it. She killed Grelod because Grelod was cruel and tortured children. Which put her in Astrid’s crosshairs. She killed all 3 because she found all three to be the best choice, no wrongs and none were truly good. She then realized the element of hunt involved in it, which drew her in further. And seeing she could help others too, she stayed put finding it intriguing and kinda fun. There is no better hunt target than those you have to stalk and prepare for after all.

With the College, she joined to better her magic abilities. So she could better her fighting skills seeing as she is not the strongest fighter. And to help her companions, not wanting to lose one on the battlefield.

With the Civil War, she has no clue which side to join. She tries to remain neutral, thus using the greybeards to make a neutral peace agreement and pausing the fighting.

With the Companions, though not a good fighter all the time she enjoys it. Her hand-to-hand combat isn’t peak, but she is still amazing with w bow. She enjoys the hunting of animals, helping others, and clearing out caves of Falmer and tombs of draugr. Especially with others at her side. Once finding out the Circle was made of werewolves, she of course took the beast blood because of her worship of the Daedric Prince, Hircine.

With the Dawnguard & The Volkihair, she would join the Dawnguard without a second thought. She is someone who worships Auri-El and to become a vampire willingly would be to turn her back on him. Now she still does fully respect vampires, and isn’t judging the ones who do not wanna take over the world and plunge it into darkness.
